Tanya Mezher - MS RDN
Tanya is a Registered Dietitian who earned her Master’s degree in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is passionate about empowering her clients to prioritize self-care in an often busy and stressful dynamic of balancing personal and professional goals and responsibilities. Tanya’s journey into nutrition began with her own clinical diagnosis, which was helped with simple diet and lifestyle changes. When she experienced the results and rewards of her efforts, she set out to become a Registered Dietitian in order to help educate and empower others to make the best choices necessary for them to feel their best. By choosing to care for ourselves and honor our bodies, Tanya strongly believes we can all be better equipped to achieve our goals and face the demands life will throw at us. As a career changer from a business professional in the California Solar Industry, Tanya understands how difficult it can be to prioritize personal health and juggle an active athletic lifestyle, academic and professional goals, busy schedule, and maintain thriving family and social experiences and relationships-but she is also here to show you how it can be done.
Many obstacles can get in the way of prioritizing self-care including urgent responsibilities, frequent travel, stressful circumstances, relationships, transitions, personal injuries, etc. Without even realizing, people often turn to emotional eating or away from caring for themselves to cope or distract. Whether you are seeking nutrition therapy for a medical concern or diagnosis such as type 2 diabetes (T2DM), gestational diabetes (GMD), gastrointestinal disorders (IBS, celiac disease, allergies/intolerances), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or just need help navigating a complex food environment and circumstances - Tanya is enthusiastic about helping you attune to your body and needs to achieve your goals while enjoying food and life.

SPORTS AND PERSONAL INTERESTS
Tanya has been involved in active recreational activities since childhood such as gymnastics, badminton, flag football and soccer. Into adulthood she continued playing both indoor and outdoor recreational soccer, until injuries caused her to pursue a more gentle form of movement through yoga. She continues to enjoy active social and solo activities; catch her biking around Prospect Park, walking with a friend or going for a jog. On trips back to California you will likely find her on a hiking trail or playing spikeball at the beach. A self-proclaimed foodie, she loves exploring new eats and connecting with family and friends over a delicious meal, throughout the city and across the globe.
Tanya believes food and movement are both meant to be enjoyed. Food is fuel and also nourishment to our body, mind and soul. Food choices and behaviors can be functional, and have a great effect on our internal systems, overall health, and wellbeing. They can be emotional - either positive and negative. They can be healing, or can be bonding experiences (i.e. socially eating with family, friends, even with strangers). And it can be liberating to choose foods that make you feel good. Unless clinically warranted (i.e. allergy, intolerance) there is usually no reason to restrict or negatively label entire groups of food, and Tanya is ready to show you how. Tanya has a compassionate, empathetic approach to helping people from all backgrounds heal their complex relationships with food and their bodies, become aware of their intentions behind their choices and enjoy eating again!
