Athletes have distinctly different nutritional needs for optimal performance. We use the latest scientific research, translated into specific and usable guidelines, to provide athletes of all levels with individualized nutrition plans based on their unique performance and fitness goals. We work with individual training schedules and lifestyle choices to determine specific energy and hydration needs for each athlete, and maximize energy levels. This expert analysis and individualized nutrition plan improves endurance and speeds muscle recovery.
We have developed functional nutrition plans for recreational, elite, and professional athletes, including:
- Soccer players
- Tennis players
- Professional dancers
- Adventure racers
We have helped many competitive athletes reach their performance goals through proper training and racing nutrition. Such athletes range from marathoners qualifying for the Boston Marathon, to triathletes completing their first (or eighth) ½ ironman or full Ironman triathlon, to multi-day adventure racers and collegiate and professional athletes.
We also enjoy working with recreational and aspiring athletes and individuals just embarking on their health and fitness regime. Lauren serves as a head coach for the NYC Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training Program triathlon team, and helps new found athletes discover their athletic passion and achieve their fitness and health goals simultaneously.
Your individual sports performance nutrition plan begins with a 60 to 90 minute initial consultation to review your training schedule and goals, and medical, nutrition and diet history. You are encouraged to keep a 3-5 day food and training diary to assist our nutritionist in determining your typical intake of overall calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat, fluids, vitamins and minerals. You will be provided with sample meal plans, overall nutrition goals and a shopping list based on your specific training and lifestyle needs. Follow-up appointments are 45-60 minutes, provide ongoing education based on your changing training and competition needs, and can address any of the following as appropriate:
- Your optimal energy intake to meet your training and weight goals
- Calculation of your daily carbohydrate needs
- Changing energy needs with training cycles
- Pre-training/competition nutrition requirements
- Proper fueling during training/competition
- Ensuring optimal recovery with adequate nutrition and protein
- Hydration and electrolyte needs during endurance activity
- Proper use of sports nutrition supplements
- Vitamin and mineral supplementation
- Body fat analysis
