Carmine Ingenito - MS RDN
Carmine is a Registered Dietitian who earned his Master’s degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to his graduate education, he completed his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Manhattan College. In addition to working with clients at Nutrition Energy, Carmine serves as an adjunct professor at Norwalk Community College, where he teaches “BIO 111- Introduction to Nutrition” and loves sharing his passion for the subject by making classes fun, interesting, and practical.
As a former collegiate soccer player, Carmine has always been interested in best practices for fueling sports performance. He is passionate about helping athletes achieve their optimal potential by following sound, science-based nutritional advice. Carmine has worked with athletes from Iona College, Manhattan College, and Columbia University, in 1-on-1 sessions, team presentations, group food demonstrations, and cooking classes. He has also provided nutritional services to athletes of the New York City Football Club (NYCFC), as well as the New York Giants, and youth Yankees Baseball Camps. While sports nutrition has been a major focus in Carmine’s career, he also has a love for cooking and eating delicious food and specializes in helping individuals find their balance in both the joy of eating and health through nutrition. He provides nutritional guidance and support for people seeking to adopt a more general healthful eating style, those looking to cook more with less stress, and individuals looking to improve their medical conditions, including but not limited to, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders, and weight management. In a nutshell, Carmine is both passionate and enthusiastic about helping clients improve their health and performance through sustainable lifestyle changes. He works collaboratively with each client to provide clear, concise, practical, simple and evidence-based recommendations, tailored to each individual's specific preferences and needs.
Carmine’s passion for nutrition started at a young age. Born the son of two Italian, immigrant parents, food was at the center of most interactions at home and with family. Not only was the importance of food emphasized at home, but also at the restaurant his parents owned. Outside of school and playing soccer, Carmine spent most of his free time at the restaurant. Helping his dad (who is a chef) cook, Carmine handled tasks ranging from peeling 30 pounds of carrots to cleaning squid and learned the importance of quality ingredients and enjoying food prepared with love. He also worked alongside his mom, assisting with front of house duties, ranging from greeting diners to bussing/waiting tables. From these experiences, he learned to love every aspect related to food, especially seeing how happy a great meal can make people feel. Carmine now loves combining his experiences as an athlete, food lover and Registered Dietitian together, to help others explore how they too can enjoy tasty food while also improving health. Carmine also provides virtual culinary sessions called, Cooking with Carmine, to help meet your cooking needs.

SPORTS AND PERSONAL INTERESTS
Carmine played soccer competitively from the age of 6, beginning at the club level in Westchester County where he resides and continuing at the collegiate level for Manhattan College. As a Sophomore in college, Carmine had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy, and his passion for traveling was born. Having an admiration for different cultures and a desire to experience how people around the world live and eat, he has since visited 13 countries, seeking out and eating lots of amazing food along the way. From seeing clients at Nutrition Energy, leading group education and cooking demonstrations, and serving as a professor at Norwalk Community College, Carmine is passionate about teaching nutritional science and doing so in a way that is relatable, compassionate, and simple to understand
When not working, Carmine enjoys hiking, exploring new restaurants in New York City, eating all types of bread and bread like substances, wandering around supermarkets (yes he thoroughly enjoys this!), and has recently taken up the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He genuinely looks forward to meeting you and helping to combine your interests, hobbies, and favorite foods into something that truly works for your personal needs.
As a dietitian, Carmine believes that his job is not to be the “food police”. Instead, he hopes to inspire clients to view food as fuel for the body rather than “good” or “bad”. There’s too much tasty food in the world to be enjoyed! With that said, he works together with each of his clients, helping to guide them along their journey while taking into account their own individualized and personal goals/needs. No two people are the same and neither should be their nutritional recommendations. Carmine also believes that it is not his job to “tell” clients what to eat/do, but rather work with them to create long term lifestyle, behavior, and dietary modifications that are tailored to what clients want and can do.
