Alana Duffy MS, RD   

Alana is a Registered Dietitian with an extensive background in both clinical and sports nutrition. Alana served as the transplant dietitian for a large outpatient transplant clinic in Los Angeles, CA for nine years, where she honed her skills in and knowledge of medical nutrition therapy for diabetes, heart disease, GI disorders and weight loss. Alana also has vast experience and great success utilizing behavior modification to elicit positive nutritional changes with her clients.  She has organized and led many nutrition programs on a wide range of topics including diabetes, weight management, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.

On the sports nutrition side, Alana earned her master's degree in exercise physiology from Cal State in Los Angeles and is also a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine.  While in LA, Alana consulted with the Los Angeles Dodgers and implemented a healthy pre and post game meal plan for the team.

Since moving to New York in 2010, Alana has combined her nutrition expertise with her vast exercise science knowledge to provide her clients with a whole body understanding of a healthy lifestyle at Nutrition Energy.

SPORTS AND PERSONAL INTERESTS: 

Alana has recently returned to school to obtain her Doctorate degree in Clinical Nutrition. She maintains a healthy and active lifestyle with daily exercise, including running, aerobics, and dance.

  

PHILOSOPHY:  

Alana believes that weight loss maintenance requires an overall lifestyle approach. She focuses on behavior modification along with diet and exercise to help her clients reach their short and long term nutrition and health goals.  She also takes into account other important factors such as each individuals sleep patterns and level of stress to ensure long term success.  Alana creates realistic goals for each individual and adapts them as needed to allow for a smooth transition to a healthier weight and way of life.  She encourages slow sustainable changes with realistic and achievable goals in order to facilitate long term success.
